Data Centers with Significant Small to Medium Customers Benefit from Reduced IT Infrastructure Utilization and Operational Cost Savings

STAMFORD, Conn., November 1 (Business Wire) -- E-Trail Digital Archive, Lighthouse Global Technologies' flagship e-communications archiving solution, has been upgraded with additional hosted environment features, most notably its multi-tenancy capability. Data Centers, long underserved by archiving solution vendors, are forming a key vertical market within the email archiving marketplace.

“E-Trail Digital Archive’s [multi-tenancy] features allow us to manage the archiving needs of multiple clients using a single installation of E-Trail,” says the CEO of one LGT client.

The market is being driven by clients of the facilities who are demanding services above and beyond the traditional cold storage/hot backup of files. Email and Instant Message archiving represents a large percentage of client demand. Data Centers that fail to provide these additional services risk client attrition to organizations that provide full coverage.

Data center organizations have several key requirements which are not often addressed by vendor products in the email archiving space. These include a reduced installation footprint, multi-tenancy capability, hierarchical storage management, and enterprise level support/monitoring tools. E-Trail Digital Archive was architected from first principles with each of these requirements in mind.

E-Trail Digital Archive has one of the most rapid installation/configuration cycles in the industry, with a system resource footprint less than half of competing products. E-Trail Digital Archive provides full multi-tenancy capability which allows a data center to incorporate a large number of clients within a single installation. This capability is critical to data centers, all of whom have large numbers of small to medium sized clients as part of their portfolio. Most products require a separate installation for each hosted entity, dramatically increasing infrastructure/support costs to the point of being cost prohibitive. With E-Trail, a new client can be configured and operating in minutes.

E-Trail Digital Archive supports hierarchical storage management allowing data centers and/or their clients to easily define simple or complex storage management schemes that make use of an email’s meta-data and/or content. Typical storage schemes range from basic company-by-company mapping to those which mirror the retention periods of the client. With the use of E-Trail, clients are limited only by their imagination as to how their data should be segregated and stored.

Adding to the effectiveness of E-Trail within the Data Center environment, Lighthouse provides a comprehensive monitoring/control application that oversees multiple E-Trail installations and allows operators and other maintenance personnel a one-stop shopping approach to alert management and tasks such as global configuration changes, data model management and general monitoring activities.

Lighthouse Global Technologies already has a number of data center clients making use of its optimal multi-tenant architecture, with many other enterprises currently assessing the many strengths of its superior features. Lighthouse Global Technologies projects this vertical market to see rapid adoption of E-Trail Digital Archive over the next three to twelve months (and beyond).
